Astrophysicist and Collaborator of the Simons Astrophysics Group at ICISE, Dr. Nguyen Luong Quang specializes in star formation and the interstellar medium. He earned his PhD from Université Paris Diderot (CEA Saclay) in 2012 and has conducted research at leading institutions including the Canadian Institute for Theoretical Astrophysics (CITA), the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan (NAOJ), and the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (KASI).
In Vietnam, he participating in founding the department of Space (USTH), the Quy Nhon Observatory, the Tay Nguyen University Observatory, the Simons Astrophysics Group at ICISE, the Institute for Astronomy and QC. His initiatives are supported by the International Astronomical Union’s Office of Astronomy for Development (IAU-OAD), Simons Foundation, Japan Ministry of Education. It has a goal of bringing astronomy and scientific knowledge to underserved communities. He is also a scientific collaborator at the ICISE Center in Quy Nhon and is leading efforts to establish a Vietnam’s astronomical facilities.
“A nation that aspires to reach the universe must begin by bringing the universe to every child in its most remote corners,” Dr. Quang shares.
